martha stewart's pizza? yes, please

ok. it's sunday evening. it's snowing. it's cold. it's gray. how about totally homemade pizza? Mr. Blake (thanks to his metalhead years flippin' pizzas at various restaurants) makes the best pizza dough in the universe. (these are from craft fairy Martha Stewart)

how it turned out...

not as pretty as what's her face's but pretty darn yummy. Don't think I could live without my cast iron cookware. It makes my eggs taste like they were made at a country truck stop in Texas, fried by some big haired waitress with big boobs named Patty, served with (tough) love and a southern twang. I loooove my cast iron. Wonder what I'll make for dinner. I'm in the mood to cook something complicated.

updates to come,

XOXO

beijinho de coco recipe

Beijinho de Coco ("coconut little kiss) is a Brazilian dessert - a friend and I made them this weekend. I am not a fan of coconut but I can eat a pound of these things, no doubt. They're easy, pretty & addictive.

Ingredients
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter, plus more for pan
  • 1/4 cup sweetened flaked coconut
  • sweetened flaked coconut or crystallized sugar for decorating
  • whole cloves for decorating

Directions
  1. Bring milk and butter to a simmer in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the milk has reduced to half and thickened, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in the 1/4 cup coconut, and allow to cool a bit before pouring into a buttered bowl. Chill in the refrigerator until cold, about 2 hours.
  2. With buttered or oiled hands, form milk mixture into tablespoon-sized balls, and roll in coconut flakes or sugar. Stick a clove into each beijinho as decoration.

speaking of cupcakes....

another cupcake site with pretty ideas... coco cake!

sweet taste of business!

congratulations to cami san romani on opening her very own cami's cake co. in downtown eudora, KS, on this glorious, sunny day!

Cami is my sister-in-law's little sister and I did her logo a few years back (original, above) and will be doing some more graphic design for her company. Her cupcake catering gig took off and today she bakes cakes for the likes of Dean & Deluca and other large local clients.

Wish you the best, girlie.

too busy + behind on laundry - patience = hot dogs

else bear's kitchen sink/drain is backed up. hubby is currently working on it. i got WAY TOO MANY things to do and not enough time in the day and that's why we end up eating crap like this:
